Helen Livanios was scrolling through Facebook when her heart completely dropped.
In an SBS News video was her best friend's crying husband, standing amidst a charred and blackened landscape in front of the torched shell of his wife's car and weeping onto the shoulder of a friend.
He had just discovered the burnt remains of his 35-year-old wife, Popi Siapkara.
It had only been a few short days since Ms Livanios, a nurse from Melbourne who has lived in Greece for the past two decades, had been in the coastal town of Mati herself.

It was the last time Ms Livanios would see her friend alive again.
When Mrs Siapkara and her family heard they had to evacuate, they ran but lost each and "they later found her [Mrs Siapkara] near the car. Burned", Ms Livanios said.
The wildfires which swept through Greece this week have been described as "apocalyptic" and were the worst Europe has seen in a century with at least 83 people confirmed dead.
