The Australian Greens say federal opposition leader Tony Abbott's attempt to rebrand himself as an environmentalist can't be taken seriously.
Mr Abbott says he's a serious greenie because he went bushwalking when he was young .. loves surfing and is a bush firie.
South Australian senator Sarah Hanson-Young says while Mr Abbott's criticism of the Labor government's inaction is welcome, he and his party have practically no credibility on the environment.
Senator Hanson-Young says the coalition, just like Labor, has refused to commit to international action on whaling, ending old growth logging and setting ambitious greenhouse targets.
