Greens warn 'sacred sites' at risk

The Greens say Canberra is set to hand over environmental powers to the States in march next year -- and that's 'bad news'.

The Greens have warned that State Governments will encourage widespread exploitation of natural resources if its Federal counterpart hands over environmental protection powers.

The comments were made at the launch of a new campaign called 'Too precious to lose'.

With a growing list of resource companies looking for new territory, it could put at risk some of the country's most valuable untouched country.

Senators say that should ring alarm bells for Indigenous communities nation wide.
