New England tight end Rob Gronkowski has returned to training for the first time since injuring his right knee in the Patriots' NFL loss to the Denver Broncos nearly two weeks ago.

Gronkowski wore a brace to protect the knee and jogged during part of the practice session open to reporters on Thursday.

His appearance has fuelled speculation he will be available for Sunday's game against the Houston Texas.

Gronkowski missed New England's 35-28 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last weekend.

In other injury news, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks missed practice on Thursday with a concussion and his status for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers appears to be in doubt.
