Children's television personality Bill Nye - aka Bill Nye the Science Guy - has told politicians to "grow the f--k up" and put more resources into fighting climate change.
In a now-viral and expletive ridden segment on John Oliver's Last Week Tonight, the host of the popular children's science show Bill Nye the Science Guy urged leaders to act now.
"By the end of this century, if emissions keep rising, the average temperature on Earth could go up another four to eight degrees," he said.
"What I’m saying is the planet’s on f--king fire."

The video formed part of the satire show's segment on the Green New Deal, an economic stimulus plan proposed to address climate change and economic inequality that failed to pass the Senate in March.
"There are a lot of things we could do to put [the fire] out — are any of them free? No, of course not. Nothing’s free, you idiots," Nye continued.
"Grow the f--k up. You’re not children anymore. I didn’t mind explaining photosynthesis to you when you were 12. But you’re adults now, and this is an actually crisis, got it?"
During the segment, Oliver blasted conservative politicians for blocking the Green New Deal, saying its real purpose was to start more conversations around climate change.
“It’s important to note the Green New Deal contains no detailed specifics on how it will achieve any of its goals, which sounds like a criticism, but it is really not," he said.
"It is a nonbinding resolution that very briefly sets out some extremely aggressive goals, including achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions, meeting 100 percent of the country’s power demand through clean, renewable and zero-emission energy sources and creating millions of good, high-wage jobs in the United States."
