A strike by guards at NSW's Goulburn jail has ended, but the prison has gone into lockdown again after two guards were allegedly assaulted.
Correctional officers walked off the job and inmates were kept in their cells at the prison on Saturday after inmates refused to follow orders.
The Public Services Association (PSA) says about 120 staff struck for 24 hours after seizures of mobile phones, drugs and televisions that had been tampered with prompted inmates to revolt.
PSA spokesman Steve McMahon told AAP that prison staff had felt their disciplinary actions were undermined by management, who gave prisoners brand new televisions during a stand off between guards and inmates on Friday.
"The inmates had been threatening ... carrying on like a bunch of drunks at the pub," he told AAP on Sunday.
The dispute between staff and management was resolved on Sunday morning, but inmates again revolted.
Two officers were assaulted after they went back to work, Mr McMahon said.
Some prisoners have been segregated, while the prison went into lockdown and visitors were told to leave.
A decision will be made on Monday on whether to continue with the restrictions, Mr McMahon said.
