An inmate has attacked five prison officers at a South Australian prison while waiting for a scheduled court video link appearance.
The prisoner, in his late 20s, allegedly attacked the guards in the admissions area of Yatala Prison.
The inmate was rushed to Royal Adelaide Hospital where he remains in a serious condition, according to SA Correctional Services chief executive David Brown.
Mr Brown said no weapons were used in the attack to his knowledge.
The prison officers, who were "shaken up" by the incident, have been discharged from hospital but will be receiving ongoing psychological support.
