Gulf situation won't impact ISIS fight: US

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson doesn't expect a decision by the UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain to cut ties with Qatar to impact the anti-ISIS fight.

The Trump administration is confident the fight against Islamic State won't be impacted by the decision by some nations to cut ties with Qatar.

The United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Saudi Arabia have joined Bahrain in accusing their Gulf neighbour of supporting extremism and undermining regional stability.

"I do not expect that this will have any significant impact, if any impact at all, on the unified fight against terrorism in the region or globally," US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told reporters in Sydney on Monday, following meetings with his Australian counterparts.
