Five female Afghani airport guards have been killed by unknown gunmen on their way to work in the southern city of Kandahar.
The group was in charge of searching female travellers and had been hired by a private security company, government spokesman Samim Khpulwak said on Saturday.
"Two gunmen on motorbike followed their van and opened fire on them, killing the five and their driver this morning, Samim said.
No group has claimed responsibility for Saturday's attack but Taliban militants waging an insurgency to topple the foreign-backed government of President Ashraf Ghani oppose women working outside their homes.
