Guptill in doubt for final Pakistan ODI

New Zealand opener Martin Guptill has rolled his ankle during training, putting him in doubt for the ODI series decider against Pakistan.

In-form New Zealand opener Martin Guptill is in doubt for the ODI series decider against Pakistan after injuring himself during training.

Coach Mike Hesson said the 29-year-old's chance of playing was "probably 50/50 at this stage" after he rolled his ankle on Saturday.

Hesson said Tom Latham would partner returning captain Brendon McCullum at the top of the order if Guptill remained in doubt for Eden Park on Sunday.

"We won't play him unless he's fit," Hesson said.

"Twisted ankle is one of those ones he could wake up and be fine or it could be sore for 24 to 48 hours. It's nothing major but it's not ideal."

Guptill has been New Zealand's form batsman of the home summer, producing a series of sparkling limited-overs knocks against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

New Zealand lead the three-match ODI series against Pakistan 1-0.
