Former carpenter Daniel Lloyd has nailed down another year in his late blooming AFL career, by signing a contract extension with GWS Giants through to the end of the 2020 season

Forward Lloyd, who hails from the NSW Central coast, didn't play his first AFL game until 2017, by which time he'd already turned 25.

Five years ago, he was was working as a carpenter while playing for Killarney Vale in the Black Diamond League, when he was spotted by GWS assistant coach Mark McVeigh.

Since GWS took him with pick 26 of the 2016 rookie draft, Lloyd has played 30 games

He has played every match this season, kicking nine goals from as many games.

"I guess if you had have told me at the start that I'd still be here now, I wouldn't have believed you," Lloyd said.

"It's been an unbelievable journey."

Ruckman Matthew Flynn, who has yet to make a senior debut for GWS, has signed a two-year contact extension until the end of the 2021 season.

'I've been in the (Giants) Academy since under-12s, its first year, so it's awesome to have done that and still be a part of the club," said 21-year-old Flynn, who comes from Narrandera in southern NSW and was pick 41 in the 2015 AFL Draft.

The Giants players to sign contract extensions this year also include Josh Kelly, Jacob Hopper, Nick Haynes, Adam Kennedy, Harry Himmelberg, Brent Daniels and Matt de Boer.

Vice-captain and gun midfielder Stephen Coniglio and fellow foundation player Adam Tomlinson have still to commit to the club beyond this year.
