Greater Western Sydney will be without injured young gun Jacob Hopper for a further four weeks of the AFL season, while Josh Kelly remains in the mix to face Brisbane on Saturday.

Hopper has missed GWS's past five games because of a badly broken finger that he suffered in round seven against St Kilda.

The 20-year-old would have been close to returning against the Lions but rolled his ankle at training on the weekend.

Kelly, one of the most in-demand players in the competition who is the subject of a bidding war between several Melbourne clubs, also suffered a setback during the bye-weekend session.

Kelly (hip) will have a fitness test later this week but the club is upbeat he will make the trip to Queensland. Defender Nick Haynes (hamstring) and forward Rory Lobb (groin) will also be assessed closer to the match.

Haynes hasn't played since round six while Lobb has missed three matches.

The Giants have endured a luckless run with injuries this year. Brett Deledio, Devon Smith, Stephen Coniglio, Ryan Griffen, Matt Buntine and Adam Kennedy are all out with long-term setbacks.
