The injury hits just keep on coming for Greater Western Sydney, with leading goalkicker Jeremy Cameron set to be sidelined for three weeks with a hamstring strain.

Cameron - who has kicked 42 goals this season - missed two AFL games with hamstring tightness before being recalled for last Saturday's home fixture against Fremantle.

Giants coach Leon Cameron said after the match that his namesake had copped a big hit to the back and hip.

"He got a hit in his back in the second quarter and felt some symptoms down that leg," said Giants' head of athletic performance David Joyce.

"He tested really well throughout the second half. We went out repeatedly just to check on him and he was fine.

"We specifically tested him at three-quarter time and he was fine.

"He actually presented worse post match so we scanned him and unfortunately it's revealed he's got a hamstring strain.

"It's a grade two which means three weeks."

Joyce said there was no reason for Cameron not to have played Saturday's game, as he passed all the required fitness tests.

"He was absolutely fine to go into the game," Joyce said.

"He couldn't have been more prepared, he wasn't rushed back, it was just one of those unfortunate things."

Only four Giants have played all 18 games this season: defenders Heath Shaw and Adam Tomlinson and midfielders Callan Ward and Dylan Shiel.

The Giants were already down one star forward for Saturday's home match against fellow finals aspirant Melbourne in Canberra, with Toby Greene suspended.

There will be fitness tests this week for another forward Steve Johnson (knee soreness), and ruckman Shane Mumford (ankle), both of who missed last week's match.

First-year midfielder Will Setterfield will also be tested after suffering concussion last Saturday.

On the plus side, former Richmond champion Brett Deledio is likely to be considered for his first senior game for GWS, after tallying 25 touches in his second NEAFL match.

"He looks like he's right to go to me," Giants NEAFL coach Brad Miller said.

Hard-nosed young midfielder Jacob Hopper collected 22 possessions in three quarters in the NEAFL, in his first game since round seven due to an ankle injury.
