Greater Western Sydney teammates have endorsed the way feisty star Toby Greene plays despite his increasing disciplinary issues.

All-Australian forward Greene, the joint second-highest AFL goalkicker this season, has received a two-match ban for striking Western Bulldog Caleb Daniel in the most recent of several disciplinary matters blighting an otherwise-impressive career.

In the two weeks before his latest indiscretion, Greene was cleared of headbutting Sydney's Isaac Heeney and was fined for striking Port Adelaide's Dan Houston.

In total, he has been charged seven times before finally copping a suspension.

"We'll miss Tobes a fair bit, he's a very valuable member of our team," said defender Adam Kennedy on Tuesday.

"He's a very resilient character ... he's been through some tough times.

"But, credit to him, he comes back even stronger and better and that's something he'll do this time around."

Kennedy didn't believe Greene needed to apologise to his team for getting suspended.

"Not really, Toby will address anything he needs to," Kennedy said.

"We absolutely love the way he goes about his football, he's arguably one of our most important players.

"He's had a great season and we'll get him back in a few weeks time and I'm sure he'll continue his good form."

Another big loss for the Giants going into Friday's clash with St Kilda at Etihad Stadium is key defender Nick Haynes, who will be sidelined for around 10 weeks with a hamstring tendon tear suffered last week.

Haynes' place could be taken by co-captain Phil Davis, who missed the Bulldogs clash with a minor hamstring injury but trained well on Tuesday.

Key midfielder and vice-captain Stephen Coniglio, who hasn't played a senior game this season due to an ankle injury, will also come under selection consideration this week.

Ruckman Shane Mumford (ankle) and forward Sam Reid (hamstring), didn't train on Tuesday and will be tested on Thursday before the team flies to Melbourne.
