Moustaches, side-burns and mutton chops, as well as traditional full beards were on display at the UK Beard and Moustache Championships held this week.

Organiser Tom Cutler said “grandstanding and peacocking” was part of the show, with contestants showing off their goods on stage before parading through the crowd.

Competitor Steve Parson said the focus was on fun, rather than furious competition. “It's not very serious, we don't take ourselves very seriously at all.”

Proceeds from the event were donated to cancer charities.
