Half our force should be women: Qld police

Queensland Police Commissioner Ian Stewart has launched a campaign to attract more women to the police force, targeting a 50/50 gender split.

Queensland's top cop says he wants half the state's police officers to be women.

Police Commissioner Ian Stewart has launched a week-long campaign to attract more women to the police force, as part of the Queensland government's inaugural Women's Week.

"Our applicant pool, we'd like to get that to 50/50 and somewhere in the future our organisation would mirror those numbers," he said on Monday.
