Linden Hall has continued her record-breaking ways by smashing the Australian women's mile mark at the London Diamond League meet.
Drawing inspiration from compatriot Joseph Deng's new 800m record set two days earlier in Monaco, Hall clocked four minutes 21.40 seconds, stripping more than one second off the 11-year-old mark set by Lisa Corrigan.
Sifan Hassan from the Netherlands claimed the win in 4:14.71 at the London Olympic Stadium on Sunday night (Monday morning AEST).
"So happy to knock off the record today," said the 27-year-old Hall, who also bettered the national 1500m mark in May.
"Once we heard it was going to be a mile in London we decided to target it in the hope of breaking the record.
"I couldn't help but be inspired by Joe Deng on Friday and all the other Aussies who've had great runs in Monaco, Heusden and here in London."
Commonwealth Games silver medallist Henry Frayne continued his best and most consistent season by finishing fourth in the men's long jump with 8.24m - the fourth longest leap of his career.
Frayne is now guaranteed a start in the Diamond League final in late August.
Ryan Gregson was second in 3:35.35 in a tactical men's 1500m won by American Olympic champion Matt Centrowitz, while countrywoman Brittany McGowan was fifth in the women's 800m.
