Women were more likely to lead election conversations on Facebook in a week when Pauline Hanson, her party and environmental issues dominated election hashtags.

About 53 per cent of Facebook discussions on election issues in the first week of the campaign were led by men, according to the social media giant.

But in week two, 52 per cent of discussions were led by women.

The top two hashtags were #onenation and #paulinehanson, in the week in which Senator Hanson denied man-made climate change is happening.

The other hashtags in the top five were focused on the environment, with #stopadani, #climate and #nocoal.

The tone was similar on Instagram, where #climatechange and #stopadani were among the five most used hashtags in week two.

Other popular hashtags were more general, such as #election2019, #government and #minister.

The union-spruiked hashtags #ausunions and #changetherules had claimed a place in the top five on Instagram in week one.

The top keyword used on the platform was "invest" for the second week in a row, followed by "tax" and "jobs".

But there was a variety of top issues on Instagram across the states, with "tax" the top keyword in NSW and "housing" the top word in Western Australia.

Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and ACT were all most likely to have used the word "invest".

Mr Shorten remained the king of Facebook in week two of the campaign, beating his opponent for the most engagement on his posts for the second week.

But Mr Morrison continued to reign on Instagram, with all of the top three posts by a politician coming from his account.

Each of those posts had a family focus, with one picturing the leader cooking dinner for his family over Easter.

Another showed Mr Morrison posing with his wife and one showed him enjoying a ride at the Easter show with his children and Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack.
