A union has condemned Pauline Hanson's call for people to only buy non-halal Easter eggs, saying it could threaten jobs at Cadbury.

The One Nation leader has asked her followers to avoid brands, such as Cadbury, which offer halal-certified products, detailing her stance in a social media video.

"Any reduction in chocolate sales this Easter because of Senator's Hanson's irresponsible comments directly threatens the jobs of our members and we call on the public to ignore her," Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union secretary John Short said, adding that factories in Victoria and Tasmania employ 1100 staff.
