Happy day for Corby family: PM

Prime Minister Tony Abbott says it's been a happy day for Schapelle Corby and her family following her release from jail.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott believes Schappelle Corby's release from a Bali jail has closed a chapter in a long saga.

Corby was released on parole from Kerobokan jail more than nine years after she was arrested for smuggling 4.2 kilograms of cannabis in a boogie board bag into Bali.

Mr Abbott said it was a happy day for her, her family and supporters.

"As far as I am concerned, I suppose ... one chapter of a long saga is closed," he told reporters in Canberra.
