Hartley eyes Shield record in Qld return

History will be in Chris Hartley's sights when the Queensland captain makes his long awaited return from injury in the Sheffield Shield clash with Tasmania.

Queensland captain Chris Hartley will have history in his sights when he makes a long-awaited return from injury in this week's Sheffield Shield clash with Tasmania at the Gabba.

Bulls gloveman Hartley missed Sydney Thunder's Big Bash League campaign due to a broken finger.

But he has timed his comeback to coincide with the Shield's return from a two-month hiatus - and a slice of history.

Hartley will line up for Queensland's clash starting on Wednesday just two dismissals away from breaking Darren Berry's record of 546 Shield scalps for a wicketkeeper.

He claimed five victims in his last Shield clash against Western Australia.

Legspinner Mitch Swepson and batsmen Matt Renshaw and Usman Khawaja were not considered by Queensland due to their Indian Test tour preparation.

The Bulls are also without Australian one-day bolter Sam Heazlett.

Quick Cameron Gannon has been named in the Bulls' Shield squad for the first time this season.

Tasmania's squad looks set to feature four ex-Bulls - Cameron Boyce, Simon Milenko, Dom Michael and Ben McDermott.

Queensland squad: Chris Hartley (capt), Joe Burns, Jason Floros, Peter Forrest, Cameron Gannon, Peter George, Charlie Hemphrey, Marnus Labuschagne, Michael Neser, Mark Steketee, Sam Truloff, Jack Wildermuth. 12th man to be named.
