A back injury has dethroned the Duke, with bowler John Hastings announcing his retirement from Victorian cricket.
He will also bow out of the international one-day format, but will continue to be available for Australian T20 selection.
While Hastings will captain the Melbourne Stars in the BBL, he has played his last game for the Bushrangers.
The bowler and handy lower-order batsman, nicknamed the Duke, suffered a back injury last Friday at training, ruling him out of the start of Victoria's one-day cup campaign in Perth.
A week later, the 31-year-old has announced a major scaling back of his cricket commitments.

Hastings played one Test, against South Africa in 2012, and the most recent of his 29 international one-dayers was in June this year.
"I've had a tough run with injuries lately but I've still thoroughly enjoyed every moment with the Victorian boys over the years," Hastings said in a Bushrangers statement.
"I've still got a bit left in the tank, though, and I can't wait to get back on the park with the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash."
Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland paid tribute to Hastings, saying he had worked hard on his game.
"He was a brilliant competitor particularly in limited-overs cricket for Australia, and a smart cricketer who with bat and ball was always in the game and looking to play his role helping Australia and the Bushrangers achieve success," Sutherland said.
Hastings made his Victorian debut in 2007 and played 75 first-class and 113 List A matches.
