Shehan Madushanka claimed a hat-trick on his international debut as Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 79 runs to win the ODI tri-nations series final in Dhaka.
The 22-year-old Sri Lanka seamer dismissed Mashrafe Mortaza and Rubel Hossain with the final two balls of the 40th over to leave Bangladesh on the brink of defeat, lying eight wickets down and with Shakib Al Hasan unable to bat due to a finger injury sustained while fielding.
With the first delivery of his next over, Madushanka (3-26) snared Bangladesh dangerman Mahmudullah as the hosts were dismissed for 142 in the day/night contest.
Mahmudullah had led the way for Bangladesh with his 76 being the match's highest scorer but, with only two other home batsmen reaching double figures, they were rarely up for the run chase.
Sri Lanka opener Upul Tharanga's 56 had earlier helped the visitors score a modest 221 all out from their 50 overs, backed up by 45 from captain Dinesh Chandimal and wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella's 42.
Hossain had been the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers with figures of 4-46.
Test captain Shakib was subsequently ruled out of the first five-day match against Sri Lanka, which begins on Wednesday.
"He has been assessed by a cosmetic surgeon and necessary repairs have been done," Debashis Chowdhury, the Bangladesh Cricket Board's senior physician, said in a statement.
"The affected finger will have to be immobilised for at least a week before further assessment is made which means he is out of the first test in Chittagong."
