Haumono has weight advantage on Parker

Joseph Parker has weighed in at 106.4kg, while Solomon Haumono tipped the scales at 109kg, ahead of their heavyweight boxing bout in Christchurch.

Joseph Parker will concede a weight advantage to heavyweight opponent Solomon Haumono when the pair step into the boxing ring in Christchurch.

Parker, who is protecting a 19-0 record, with 16 knockouts, weighed in at 106.4kg ahead of the fight on Thursday night.

The 24-year-old Kiwi was the same weight before beating Cameroonian Carlos Takam in Auckland in May.

His win over Takam by unanimous decision made him the mandatory challenger to Englishman Anthony Joshua's IBF world title.

New Zealand-born Australian Haumono, 40, weighed in at 109kg.

The former NRL star has fought 28 times for 24 wins (21 by KO), two losses and two draws.

Parker is odds-on favourite to beat Haumono, who is ranked No.11 by the WBA.

But Parker is adamant his focus is centred solely on Haumono and he's not about to take him lightly.

"There's a lot of talk about Anthony Joshua, but my 100 per cent focus is on Haumono," Parker told NZ Newswire.

"You can't really look ahead until you beat what's in front of you."

Parker says Haumono's approach to the fight has impressed, including his decision to shift his training camp to Los Angeles where he's been working with Manny Pacquiao's conditioning trainer, Australian Justin Fortune.

The Kiwi is expecting Haumono to bring plenty of power to the contest, and has been working hard on his defence and movement to combat that strength.

"He's a fighter who, when he comes forward, puts on pressure and when he throws his punches, he throws them with that intention.

"He's the type of fighter that if you let your guard down, if you ever shy away from focusing 100 per cent, he'll get you."

Haumono is well aware of the challenge ahead of him, but his confidence is running high.

"I've been working very, very hard, in conditioning and strength and sparring," he said.

"Everything's been at a very high level, and that's what's needed for Joseph Parker.

"I'll come with everything prepared to expect anything and everything. I can't be any better than what I am."
