Hawks get info on new Perth NBL import

Illawarra import Michael Holyfield has given his Hawks colleagues the lowdown on what to expect from new Perth NBL import Andre ingram, a former teammate.

lllawarra has already received inside information on the deadly long range shooting of new Perth import Andre Ingram, who is set to make his NBL debut against the Hawks on Friday.

Guard Ingram was recruited by Perth after they sacked another back court import, Jaron Johnson earlier this week.

Ingram's three-point shooting stats make for impressive reading and suggest he can provide the kind of outside threat former Wildcats favourite Jermaine Beal used to supply.

The 30-year-old American has shot almost 46 per cent from three-point range in his eight-year professional career in the NBA D-League.

He has made a league all-time 583 long bombs and won their three-point shootouts in 2010 and 2015.

It was in that competition that he played alongside the Hawks newest frontcourt import.

"Michael Holyfield actually played with him last season in the D-League with Los Angeles D-Fenders," Hawks' coach Rob Beveridge told AAP.

"He gave us a bit of a brief scouting report on Wednesday morning.

"He says he's the best shooter he's ever played with.

"They called him 99, as in 99 per cent of the time it's going in, if he's open."

Friday's clash will be their first NBL meeting since Perth beat the Hawks 2-1 in last season's semi-finals.

lllawarra have a bad record in Perth, but Beveridge felt his new-look side now had the power to muscle up against the Wildcats.

"Physically we always get beaten up over there and I think we've got the physicality covered this time hopefully," Beveridge said.

Hawks guard Mitch Norton will miss a second game with a hamstring injury.

"We just felt it would be better for him to stay back and continue his rehab," Beveridge said.

"We're trying to get trying to get him ready for (next) Monday and the Sydney Kings."
