Hawks lose Sicily for six AFL matches

Hawthorn's James Sicily will miss the next six AFL games because of a broken wrist.

Hawthorn defender James Sicily's AFL season could be over with scans revealing he has a broken wrist.

The influential backman will miss the next six games after being injured in Hawthorn's loss to Brisbane on Saturday.

With only six matches remaining before the finals, any return this season by Sicily depends on the Hawks making the playoffs.

Hawthorn are currently in 10th spot equal with eighth-placed Geelong on points, but trail the Cats on percentage.

"It is obviously really unfortunate for James and the club," Hawthorn's general manager of football, Graham Wright said on Tuesday.

"James has been in great form of late and he will be really difficult to replace."
