Hawthorn president Andrew Newbold says his success-soaked club is likely to this year skip the trade window, which has made them so successful, opting instead to add more talent in the draft.
Basking in his club's three-peat achieved on his watch, Newbold was about the proudest man in the Hawthorn rooms after the grand final win.
His greatest adoration was for the two first-time winners: Ryan Schoenmakers and James Frawley.
While plenty had given up on Schoenmakers earlier in his career, Newbold said the South Australian had achieved what everyone at the club thought he was capable of.
"We had faith, you've got to have faith in these kids and they repay the faith," he said.
"He was derided for how much of his career? And not one wasted disposal out there today."
Newbold described Frawley, who blanketed West Coast forward Josh Kennedy and claimed a winner's medal in his first season with the Hawks, as "fantastic".
"He's not a bad recruit, a bloke that came in and did his role, when it mattered most, had a job and did it," he said.
But despite the success of Frawley and fellow trade success stories including Shaun Burgoyne, David Hale, Josh Gibson and Brian Lake, the Hawks are set to be observers during the October trade period.
The reason is salary cap pressures, with Newbold revealing the Hawks were very close to capacity.
"I think we're pretty full on our salary cap - as we should be when we've won three premierships in a row," he said.
"We'll be going to the draft this year."
Newbold said he was most pleased that the club stood up on the biggest stage.
"They're at their best when it matters most," he said.
