Hayne loving new 49ers coach's NFL offence

NFL convert Jarryd Hayne says he is loving Chip Kelly's offence, he no longer craves Sydney coffee and would like to produce an underwear line.

Jarryd Hayne says he is loving new San Francisco 49ers coach Chip Kelly's "silent" offensive scheme because it is similar to playing rugby league.

Last year under coach Jim Tomsula Hayne had to decipher a more traditional NFL system of verbal play calls.

Kelly, renowned for his fast-paced offence at the Philadelphia Eagles and University of Oregon, has his players communicate on the field with non-verbal signals.

"Just learning that and to be able to move fast it's something I'm used to and have done before in the past," Hayne said during an interview on the 49ers Radio podcast.

Hayne recalled how a year ago he had to write down all of the plays on a cheat sheet and bug quarterbacks Colin Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert because he was clueless about the plays being called.

Hayne said he found with last year's verbal signals he would have to think about it, but the non-verbal system he processes quicker and can rely on muscle memory.

"The system is awesome," Hayne said.

"It's so much fun to just be able to come up with different plays and concepts.

"You really need to be on your toes because there's so many moving parts."

In the wide-ranging interview Hayne also told how he would like to expand his own fashion line into underpants.

"I actually wanted to do an underwear line," he said.

"Just something small."

A year ago if you asked Hayne what he missed most about Sydney, near the top of his list was coffee, but he now says he is "off coffee at the moment".

He found on his recent trip back to Australia he did not enjoy Sydney coffee as much.

Part of it was watching something on Facebook about the treatment of dairy cows, which turned him off milk.

"I don't mind a drip coffee now which is quite funny because I used to hate it before," he said.

"I don't mind it now because you don't have to have dairy, milk with it."
