Hayne NSW Origin audition set to continue

Jarryd Hayne will face another examination of his NSW Origin claims when he comes up against Queensland mainstay Will Chambers in an NRL match.

Jarryd Hayne has already given NSW selectors a small but worthy sample of his form as a centre.

But the Gold Coast's marquee player can go a long way towards making a compelling case for Origin selection in the position when the Titans play Melbourne on Saturday night.

In what could easily be round two of an Origin audition, Hayne shapes up against the Storm's Queensland centre Will Chambers.

Two weeks ago Hayne matched it with Maroons' Origin hopeful Dane Gagai in the backline.

Gold Coast thrashed Newcastle and it was Hayne's first full match in the centres this season after returning from an ankle injury.

Hayne was dominant, scoring two tries.

He would have left an impression on NSW coach Laurie Daley.

Daley likes the idea of having Hayne in his side and coming out on top against Chambers at Suncorp Stadium could seal the deal.

Chambers has been the NRL's form centre, averaging 134m and 19 tackles per match in 2017.

Gold Coast coach Neil Henry says Hayne's good form bodes well for the Blues.

"History says he (Hayne) can play in the centres, he's done that before," Henry said.

"It's a nice headache for Laurie (Daley) to have, they've got quite a few candidates for fullback so I think their backline could be very strong."

Henry has backed Hayne for Origin selection since his return from injury, saying he has the history and ability to perform on the biggest stage.
