Haynes watches as 49ers fumble

It has been just over three weeks since the 49ers cut Jarryd Hayne and the team continues to flounder.

The San Francisco 49ers have suffered another sorry defeat and while fumbles were a problem, it had nothing to do with Jarryd Hayne.

Two of the players the 49ers believed could do a better job than the former Australian rugby league star, returner Bruce Ellington and running back Shaun Draughn, had fumbles in Sunday's 29-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

The 49ers were never in the game and the loss sends them to a three win, seven loss record.

"I was definitely disappointed in the performance," 49ers coach Jim Tomsula said.

Hayne, after fumbling three punts in his first six games, was cut by the 49ers and then signed to their practice squad three weeks ago.

Draughn's fumble came on the second play of the game in Seattle and although he recovered, the Seahawks went on to a 13-0 first quarter lead.

Ellington, who took over Hayne's punt return duties, fumbled a kick in the third quarter and luckily for the 49ers it bounced out of bounds.

The 49ers were desperate for a win against the division rivals Seahawks.

The Seahawks were without star running back Marshawn Lynch, but instead of taking advantage of it, the 49ers let unheralded rookie replacement Thomas Rawls rush 30 times for a total of 209 yards.

The 49ers languish in last place in the NFC West division, with the Seahawks improving to five wins and five losses and the Arizona Cardinals streaking ahead with a 7-2 record.

Hayne hasn't given up on making it off the practice squad and back on the 49ers' 53-man roster and Tomsula has said he will consider all players on a week-by-week basis.
