South Australia captain Travis Head has produced a remarkable double century to spearhead a successful chase, after Test aspirants Cameron Bancroft and Shaun Marsh hit centuries for Western Australia.
Chasing 351 at Sydney's Hurstville Oval, the Redbacks reached their target with six wickets and 21 balls to spare in a one-day cricket game which produced 29 sixes, a double century and three centuries.
Australia A representative Head (202) smashed 20 fours and 12 sixes in his 120 ball assault on the Warriors attack.
He added 278 for the third wicket with Australian representative Callum Ferguson (112 not out off 118 balls) in 32 overs.
WA also had two century makers in their score of 4-350, with Bancroft (176 off 155) and Marsh 109 off 104) putting on a Warriors one-day opening partnership record off 216 in little more than 36 overs.
Both men were part of the Australian squad for the postponed Test tour of Bangladesh and helped their prospects of a callup for the coming home series against New Zealand.
"I think if you're scoring runs no matter what format of the game, you're always going to put your name up there so it was pleasing," Bancroft said.
His score was the highest by a WA player in a domestic one-day game.
"Playing one-day cricket my record has been really average to be honest," said Bancroft, who averaged just under 20 before Monday's knock and had not scored more than 66 in his 17 previous one-day innings.
"I've been working really hard on my one-day cricket.
"To come out and implement a lot of things I've been working on was really pleasing."
Head, 21, the youngest captain in SA history, notched the biggest one-day score by a Redback.
"He didn't mishit a ball, he creamed absolutely everything," Bancroft said.
"I don't think we bowled as well what we would have liked to him, but he batted beautifully.
"He set the game up for them and they deserved to win after an innings like that."
