Alyssa Healy has overcome personal heartbreak to blast the Sydney Sixers to a landslide 74-run belting of the Adelaide Strikers and to the top of the WBBL ladder.
Coming off 70 not out yesterday against Hobart, Healy cracked an unbeaten 112 off 69 balls to launch the Sixers to a formidable 1-206 - the second highest-ever WBBL team total - which proved well beyond the Strikers who were skittled for just 132.
It was Healy's highest score, her second career WBBL ton - her first was also against Adelaide at Hurstville Oval - and the second-best individual score in the competition's history, behind teammate Ash Gardner's 114 a year ago.
"It was a hot day but I enjoyed my time out there," Healy said.
"To put two good batting performances together this weekend gives me confidence heading into the new year.
"I had two really good partnerships with two quality players."
It was an inspirational effort after Healy's grandmother - the mother of legendary former Test wicketkeeper Ian Healy - passed away recently.
Sixers captain Ellyse Perry (48) played the supporting role as Healy provided the fireworks in the pair's 150-run opening run stand.
A wonderful direct hit from Adelaide captain Suzie Bates to run out Perry by millimetres was the sole highlight for the Strikers who suffered further carnage when No.3 Gardner belted three sixes in smashing 39 not out off 15 balls.
Aside from seamer Megan Schutt (0-23 off four overs), the Strikers' bowlers were battered and their fielding was shoddy, particularly late in the innings.
In reply, Bates stroked 46 at the top and Tahlia McGrath hit a quickfire 27, but the visitors were never remotely in the hunt and were knocked over in 19.1 overs.
Lauren Cheatle (3-22) led the way with the ball, backed by spinner Lauren Smith (2-5) and 15-year-old Hayley Silver-Holmes (2-21).
