A research breakthrough has made a step forward to finding new treatments for heart failure.

 

A physician in Sydney, with US scientists, has successfully grown heart muscle cells to repair the damaged heart of a primate after a heart attack.

 

The growing epidemic of heart failure kills more than 20,000 Australians each year.

 

Westmead Millennium Institute and University of Sydney researcher Dr James Chong told Samantha Yap, he aims grow heart muscle cells on human patients with heart failure.
