Heartbroken Hunt readies for NRL again

Broncos playmaker Ben Hunt says he is looking forward to playing football again after putting his grand final errors behind him.

Brisbane star Ben Hunt is looking forward to playing football again after moving on from his "heartbreaking" errors in the Broncos' NRL grand final loss to North Queensland.

Two late mistakes from halfback Hunt opened the door for the Cowboys' dramatic 17-16 win in last seasons' decider including his knock-on from the start of golden point extra-time.

Hunt's extra-time error gave the Cowboys perfect field position to kick the premiership-winning field goal and maestro Johnathan Thurston made no mistake.

"Of course it was a heartbreaking night," Hunt said in his return to pre-season training at Red Hill on Monday.

"It was tough for everyone, anyone who loses a grand final knows what it is like.

"But it is gone now, it is in the past and we have to move on to next year and to doing the best we can."

"The head is cleared again now, I was getting a bit bored at home the last few weeks and was really keen to get back."

Halfback Hunt copped a one-week suspension for a lifting tackle in the dying minutes on Cowboys centre Kane Linnett that gave North Queensland a piggyback upfield as they pushed for a miracle comeback.

Hunt was pictured crying on the ANZ Stadium turf after the win and was consoled by outgoing skipper Justin Hodges.

Hunt revealed coach Wayne Bennett also sought him out for a chat after the game.

"Of course it was tough, I dropped the ball to lose a grand final ..." Hunt said.

"He (Wayne) was a great support to all of us and we had a real good one-on-one chat about it."
