A hard-hitting innings from Deandra Dottin has helped Brisbane Heat end Perth Scorchers' early-season form with a six-wicket win over the WBBL leaders in Brisbane.

The Heat tallied 4-116 in reply to the Scorchers 7-112 on Friday, with the Perth side unable to reprise their opening form, which included a massive victory over reigning champions Sydney Sixers.

West Indian import Dottin cracked 45 from 48 balls in a low-scoring encounter at Allan Border Field to help the Heat earn victory with seven balls in hand.

Heat opener Kirby Short anchored the innings, scoring 50 not out off 48 balls.

Earlier, the Scorchers all-star batting line-up failed to fire slipping to 5-59.

Only some judicious stroke-play from middle-order pair Katherine Brunt (29) and Mathilda Carmichael (22) rescued the Scorchers.

With two wins from three matches the Scorchers maintain a three-way share of top spot, while the Heat boast one win from two outings.
