Heat not a concern for Adelaide Utd coach

Adelaide United's have endured weeks of searing temperatures, but there's no excuse for that to impact on A-League performance according to coach Marco Kurz.

Fatigue from the heat won't be any excuse for Adelaide United when they take on A-League ladder-leaders Perth on Wednesday night, according to coach Marco Kurz.

The Reds claimed a 2-1 win over the Western Sydney on Friday evening in temperatures north of 30 degrees at ANZ Stadium.

They also endured a week of searing heat at home, with temperatures regularly eclipsing 40 degrees in the past week in Adelaide where the team has trained.

But Kurz insists his players had to be strong enough to endure it.

"It's hard for the boys to train, play and travel again. But it's part of Australian football," he said.

"I think you can prepare the boys in the pre-season. Train a big volume, give them a good base.

"It's not every week now. Last season we had three or four games with this temperature. If we have seven games with this temperature it will be hard.

"But they are professional players. They can hold a level when it's hot."

Wednesday's clash shapes as another crucial on for the Reds in their bid to climb the finals-paying ladder positions, now they are 10 points ahead of seventh.

Albeit with having played an extra game, they sit sixth but are now just one point behind Melbourne City as the competition goes into its second half of the season.

"At the end we have a lot of work to do because points are not enough when our big goal for the season is to reach the final again," Kurz said.

"The only issue or problem we had (against the Wanderers) in the second half was to score a few more girls and close the game earlier."
