Queensland's heatwave has continued with soaring temperatures across the state's inland while the southeast was spared the worst due to cooler sea breezes.
Windorah topped out for the state at 44.6C, while St George on the Darling Downs hit 43.5C.
Roma had its fifth day in a row above 40C, reaching 42.5C.
Weather bureau forecaster Dean Narramore said the coastal regions of the southeast were against spared the brunt of the heat.
"Brisbane only got to 30C, the suburbs 32C, a bit warmer inland with Ipswich hitting 36C today," Mr Narramore said.

"Toowoomba got 36, Oakey 37C, so pretty much everywhere away from the coast got mid-to-high 30s and once you get west of the Great Divide everyone was in the 40s."
Tuesday is expected to see those conditions continue before the southern parts of the state finally see a cooler change on Wednesday, with a wider change expected for most areas by Thursday.
