The London home of 1960s rock musician Jimi Hendrix will be opened permanently to the public in 2016.
The property, which is located at 23 Brook Street in London's Mayfair, central London, will be the only former Hendrix property in the world open to the public.
It is next to Handel House at 25 Brook Street, where baroque composer George Frideric Handel lived for 36 years during the mid-1700s.
The top floor of Hendrix's flat will open to the public in February 2016 following a STG2.4 million ($A5.1 million), two-year restoration project.
Hendrix moved into the property in July 1968, and the Handel & Hendrix exhibition will trace his life in London in 1968 and 1969.
His bedroom has been restored to what it looked like when he lived there in 1969.
"It is hard to think of another home in the world with such a concentration of musical genius," Alistair Stranack, chairman of the Handel House Trust, said.
"Our research into the building and Hendrix's circle of friends and acquaintances has enabled us to present an image of what life was like in his time at Brook Street.
"While it has been a pleasure to have been working in Jimi's bedroom for the past few years, it is even more pleasing to be able to throw it open to everybody else."
Tickets for the Hendrix Flat will go on sale on November 2.
