Henriques not thinking about Test cricket

Australia allrounder Moises Henriques says he won't be thinking about making the Test team when he lines up against India in three T20 internationals.

On the cusp of the Australian team for a decade, Moises Henriques is no longer letting the lure of Test honours shape his cricket.

The NSW skipper is one of the new T20 brigade out to breathe life into Australia's tour of India which has so far produced a 4-1 one-day international series defeat.

And while the Test No.6 spot is a carrot dangling tantalisingly in front of Henriques, he says that's not his focus ahead of the first of three T20 internationals on Saturday in Ranchi.

"Every time I walk out to play for Australia now I'm just trying to win the game, not worry about too much what comes of it," Henriques said.

Henriques has excelled in domestic cricket in recent years. He has built an impressive first-class record, with an average of 35.24 with the bat and 31.37 with the ball.

But in 23 matches across all formats for Australia, he's been unable to cement his place.

"I definitely think I'm good enough to play at this level," Henriques said.

Henriques has been on Australian selectors' radar for most of his career, playing his first T20I more than eight years ago.

The 30-year-old believes he is a more mature cricketer than previous national call-ups.

"I feel like my game has come a long way in the last sort of two or three years and I probably haven't got as many opportunities to play for Australia in that time," Henriques said.

Bowling will be key to the allrounder's hopes of adding to his four Tests.

While injuries reduced his workload with the ball last Shieffield Shield year, he is set to enter the T20Is and subsequent domestic first-class games at full capacity.

"I haven't missed a game for a long time but bowling's been a little bit restricted just from carrying a few little things," Henriques said.

"I should be right to go 100 per cent for this series and it has been like that for a little while."

Australia have lost their last six T20Is against India, but that's not playing on Henriques's mind as he hunts a series victory.

"When you're playing for Australia there's no real ranking as to what's the most important (format)," Henriques said.

"You're just trying to do your job that's needed for the game."
