Hepatitis A cases on the rise in Victoria

The number of hepatitis A cases in Victoria is on the increase with 58 confirmed patients, the state's chief health officer says.

Almost 60 people in Victoria have been diagnosed with hepatitis A with the number of cases on the rise, the state's chief health officer warns.

The disease has also led to a death, seven probable cases and another 16 potential cases being investigated, he said on Tuesday.

Most of the patients are men, many who report having male-to-male sex, and some are people who inject drugs.
