High rollers tax rebate boost for Crown

WA Treasurer Mike Nahan says $18 million in extra funds for Crown Casino's high roller tax rebate will ultimately generate more revenue for the state.

A tax discount for James Packer's Crown Casino in Perth has been boosted with state budget funds, but the treasurer says it will ultimately generate additional revenue for WA by helping to attract more high rollers.

The state government has added $17.8 million to the VIP Professional Punters Tax Rebate over the three years from 2017-18.

Treasurer Mike Nahan says the aim is for Crown to bring in more super rich gamblers and it will then ultimately pay more tax.

"They were meeting competition from Singapore and Macau, and we also only did nothing more than match what they did at the casino in Melbourne and in Sydney," Dr Nahan told reporters on Friday.
