History against Roosters' NRL finals bid

The Sydney Roosters must recreate the feats of the 1999 Brisbane Broncos if they are to make the NRL finals after an 0-5 start.

Sydney Roosters skipper Jake Friend has pointed to last year's 12-game winning streak as evidence the NRL cellar-dwellers can mount the sort of run they need to make finals series.

The 1999 Brisbane Broncos are the only team to ever recover from an 0-5 start to make the top eight, the same scenario the Roosters now face.

The Roosters, who face fourth-placed South Sydney on Friday, need to win 12 of their last 19 games to be any chance of sneaking into the finals.
