Homes for hobbits have begun springing up in New Zealand's North Island town of Matamata.
A field in the Waikato was transformed into Hobbiton for The Lord of The Rings trilogy, last shot about a decade ago, by New Zealand director, Peter Jackson.
Fresh holes have began appearing in the New Zealand paddock that will once again play home to the fictional characters in The Hobbit, due to begin shooting later this year.
The set was stripped bare in 2002, bar a few frames for hobbit holes, the New Zealand Herald reported on Monday.
Last year fruit trees were planted and ground cleared for roads.
