Hockeyroos on song against Korea

The Australian women's hockey team have beaten Korea 2-0 in the Hawkes Bay Cup in New Zealand.

Georgie Parker's second goal in as many games and a strike from youngster Grace Stewart has given the Hockeyroos a 2-0 victory over Korea at the Hawkes Bay Cup in Hastings.

The dominant effort from the Australian women's team resulted in the defending champions creating 17 shots on goal along with seven penalty corners on Sunday.

Australia came away with the three points thanks to Parker's strike just after halftime before Stewart's third goal in nine senior internationals soon after.

Korea rallied late, but Australia's defence held firm, leaving coach Adam Commens reasonably pleased with the performance which followed Saturday's 1-1 draw with Japan.

"We had a lot of opportunities and I'd have liked to score more goals but it was good to get two field goals and to limit Korea to only a few chances," he said.

"We need to tidy up our goal scoring, we need more composure and to get a higher quality of shot on goal but for two games in I'm really pleased with where we are."

The Hockeyroos remain second in Pool A, following Japan's 6-2 win over Canada.

Australia face the Canadians in their third and final pool match on Tuesday (12pm AEST).
