Two tries in the final quarter from St Helens centre Mark Percival ensured a Super League honeymoon will continue for their Australian coach Justin Holbrook.
In Holbrook's first game in charge, St Helens clinched a dramatic 22-19 victory over arch-rivals Wigan.
After joining the Sydney Roosters as an assistant coach in 2015, Holbrook signed on at St Helens earlier this month
Wigan thought they had won it when a drop goal from the returning Thomas Leuluai edged them back in front nine minutes from the end of a pulsating encounter.
But Percival pounced for the winning try five minutes later to send the bulk of the 13,138 crowd into raptures.
Coming off the back of a 45-0 rout of Hull at the Magic Weekend, just 48 hours after he arrived in the country, Holbrook could hardly have made a better start to his reign as a head coach.
