In-form Victorian spinner Jon Holland remains in the dark about missing out on the Australian cricket team's tour of India and believes that will probably stay the case.

Holland has taken 38 Sheffield Shield wickets this season but was injured during the BBL and missed out on an Australian recall.

He played two Tests on debut during last year's Sri Lankan tour.

Holland admitted to mixed emotions about his non-selection for India.

"I still haven't heard from them (selectors), so I'm not holding my breath," he said on Wednesday.

"Part of me thinks maybe I should have gotten a call, just to let me know how I'm going, what they're thinking.

"But then I'm sure the selectors have a lot on their plate and they can't call everyone.

"But having taken so many wickets and been on the last tour, I thought I would have been a chance to get selected."

The 29-year-old said national selection remains a goal.

In the meantime, he wants to help Victoria win a third-straight Shield title.

They have a solid lead at the top of the ladder ahead of their clas starting Saturday against WA in Perth.

"I don't think it's frustrating - obviously it would have been nice to be selected and to be over there, preparing for what's going to be a cracking Test series," he said.

"But I'm back here with the Vics and we're looking at going for three Shields in a row - it's pretty exciting.

"Hopefully, one day, I do get another opportunity but if not, I'm really enjoying my cricket here at Victoria."

He has also set his sights on a wickets milestone this Shield season.

"Fifty sounds pretty good - I don't get to make any with the bat, so maybe I can get some with the ball," he said.
