Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan has confirmed winger Valentine Holmes will play against Wests Tigers on Sunday.

Flanagan says playing in Queensland's 22-12 loss to NSW is unlikely to rattle Holmes, who scored the first try for the Maroons in Wednesday's Origin opener.

"Val's fine, you know young players these days, they move on pretty quickly," Flanagan told reporters on Friday.

"I get a feeling the Queensland attitude is they're only one down, it's not the end of the world for them.

"They've got a lot of confidence that they'll bounce back."

The Sharks are sitting seventh on the ladder going into the weekend, ahead of the ninth placed Tigers.

Sutherland said his side would have to watch out for the Tigers' trick kicks and expected it to be a good battle.

"Benji's been playing really well, he's got a lot of little tricks to his game," he said.

"We need to be really smart. If they get down on your try line - I think they've forced more goal line drop outs than any team in the competition.

"They've got a lot of little trick kicks in them."

The Cronulla coach said he has not approached Canterbury forward Aaron Woods despite rumours to the contrary.

"I haven't sounded him out," he said.

"We're interested in getting good players to our club but we won't be playing it out in the media."
