Home loan approvals rise 1.6% in Sept

The number and value of owner-occupied and investor home loans rose 1.6% in September. (AAP)

The number of home loan approvals rose 1.6 per cent in September, beating market expectations of a 1.6 per cent fall.

The value of total housing finance was $32.3 billion in the month, seasonally adjusted, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

The value of loans approved for owner-occupied housing rose 0.9 per cent and loans for investment housing jumped 4.6 per cent.
