Back in the Gold Coast sunshine, Tyrone Roberts admits his stint playing in England's Super League was an unhappy one for him and his family.
Roberts cut short a lucrative three-year deal with Warrington after just one season to return to the Titans for 2019.
As the Wolves' starting halfback he helped lead the club to the Super League grand final against Wigan and also played in the Challenge Cup decider against Catalan Dragons, losing both.
With Ash Taylor, AJ Brimson and ex-Storm No.7 Ryley Jacks all in the halves mix at the Titans, Roberts is no certainty to start.
But the 27-year-old said the on-field success and the big money couldn't compensate for his family's happiness.
"You can't put a price on happiness. The kids weren't coping well and I wasn't coping too well being so far away from home," Roberts said from the Indigenous All-Stars camp in Melbourne.
"The football side of it was great, it was just off field sometimes you'd leave in the dark and come home in the dark.
"It wasn't great for the kids, it was too cold for them to go outside so they were stuck inside most of the time and we didn't really have any opportunities to go travelling because we played every week."
Roberts said he had a clause in his contract that he could cut it short if he wasn't happy and flagged that decision early with Warrington.
He said that Gold Coast coach Garth Brennan had already given him a role at the club, to keep Taylor happy.
"He's a great footballer, he's got great skill," Roberts said of the 23-year-old.
"When I started there was a lot of pressure on me and I'm trying to take that away from him and make him love what he does and come to training happy as it reflects on the whole team.
"The less he worries about things the better he can play."
