Homeless in Melbourne: Troy's story

Anti-poverty campaigners say the issue of poverty has been ignored in this campaign. Troy Schalks tells SBS his story of how he found himself homeless in Melbourne.

Every night hundreds of Australians sleep rough on the streets, because they have nowhere to call home.

Among them is Troy Schalks, who busks with his outside a supermarket in the inner Melbourne suburb of Richmond.

The 40-year-old has been homeless for eighteen months.
